New Year Detox
Share
Every January, we put away the cookies, pies and wine and adjust our diet to cleaner foods and drinks. We rely on some long-standing detox principles, recipes and menus shared by our experts at MaxFit – a boutique sports center founded by brothers Pascal and Yordan Dichevi, who have over 20 years of experience in the field of sports, nutrition and health.
After the Christmas and New Year holidays, filled with rich meals with a wide variety of foods and drinks on the table, we decided to create a new tradition with tips on how to cleanse our body of toxins accumulated during the holidays and beyond. The recipes and eating habits that we will share in the “Food & Home” section can become the basis for your eating habits throughout the year.
Breakfast:
Breakfast is the first meal of the day, which charges our body with energy and strength. For this, it is good to choose nutrients rich in fats and proteins. You can include eggs, cheese, avocado, whole grain bread, olives, vegetables, yogurt, oats, honey. About 30 minutes before breakfast, we recommend drinking a cup of detoxifying tea or a glass of warm water with lemon.
Lunch and dinner: These two meals are similar in terms of type of food, with the only difference being the amount and time of dinner, which is recommended to be before 8 p.m. or at least 2-3 hours before going to bed. It is a good idea to consider the hours you eat so that there is at least 4-5 hours between them for the body to process the food. For example, if you have breakfast at 8 a.m. before work, lunch should be around 12-1 p.m., and dinner around 7 p.m. What is also important to note when you want to cleanse yourself are the snacks. It is advisable to reduce them to the maximum and instead emphasize cleansing liquids - such as water or detox tea. Avoid alcohol, especially at night before bed. Nuts are also something to be careful with, as they are high in calories and usually require about 20-30 grams to get the nutrients you need.
